The year has barely begun and we are already busy building on the diverse activities that shaped 2019 for us: the creative and inspiring collaboration with our clients and partners, the successful PETRANIX Academy’s GRI seminars, our analyses of current communication and design trends, as well as potentials for successful reporting practices.
As part of the expert panel for the Integrated Reporting Critique Project of the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC), we have been contributing to the promotion of Integrated Reporting for three years now.

Sustainability reporting of Swiss listed companies: Current trends and future potentials

In 2019, we surveyed a number of SIX listed companies with regard to their practice in sustainability reporting.
Out of 56 companies drawn from SMI-Expanded and SPI Extra, 86% produced a sustainability report in 2019, while about 1/3 of those also demonstrated their commitment to regular reporting through the SIX Opting-In in accordance with Art. 9 DCG. While 42% of the sustainability reports (SR) were fully integrated in the annual report (AR), 40% of the companies presented sustainability highlights in their AR and referenced to a separate SR, and 18% had only a separate SR without referencing in their AR.

While the quantity of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) publications has strongly increased in the last few years – including presentation of performance indicators, defined targets and management approaches, also in view of responsibility in the supply chain – the easy access to this information as well as the integration of sustainability into the business strategy is still limited.

We see opportunities for improvement in communicating the sustainability efforts, particularly in view of a transparent and easy-to-understand presentation of measures and performance, as well as a clear and integrated strategy. This can pay off twice: internally by revealing potentials to reduce risks and improve processes; externally by helping to build trust and attracting awareness and capital – both contributing to long-term value creation.

GRI Standard Certified Trainings

The GRI Standard Certified Training is a two-day intensive seminar in which we impart profound basic knowledge, discuss practical examples on the basis of selected case studies, and provide technical input for the practical implementation of the GRI Standards. No previous knowledge is required. GRI Workshop: Integrating the SDGs into your reporting process

The one-day SDG course provides information on the GRI Standards and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). You will get to know the SDGs and learn how they can be used in combination with the GRI Standards as part of an annual or sustainability report. Using a hands-on approach, you will learn how to integrate the SDGs into your reporting process to demonstrate your company's contribution to sustainable development. Case studies show how other companies have already started to integrate the SDGs into their reporting process.

Both courses are official GRI courses conducted by us as a certified GRI Training Partner. Participants will receive an official course confirmation from GRI. Upon request, we also conduct individual courses for your company.

Depending on the requirements of the participants, the courses can be conducted either in English or in German. All teaching material is in English.
